The weight is definitely part of the appeal. I like being able to feel the pen in my hand, and the brass gives it that. I wouldn't choose it for someone who only likes very light pens.
Vacuum filling, a visible ink window and a choice of four nib widths.

The Liberum Volucris Brass Pocket Fountain Pen is a compact vacuum-filler fountain pen for bottled fountain pen ink. Its warm brass body develops a natural patina with handling, while the clear ink window lets you check the remaining ink.
The built-in vacuum filling system draws ink directly from a bottle. The ink window makes the remaining ink visible without opening the barrel. The pen is approximately 120 mm long when capped, for everyday carry and daily writing.
The standard pen includes a #6 stainless steel nib with a plastic feed. Choose Extra Fine, Fine, Medium or Broad for the pen's installed nib.
The additional ebonite-feed nib option adds one separate stainless steel nib unit with an ebonite feed, in the selected width. It is supplied in addition to the standard installed nib. Select None if you only want the standard pen. The product price follows your selected configuration.

A bit heavier than my usual resin pens, as expected. Once I relaxed my grip I got on with it well. The weight feels intentional rather than excessive for the size.

The simple shape really works with brass. There is enough going on in the material itself, so I'm glad the design doesn't try to add a lot more.
